Melissa was born March 11, 1980, in Madrid, Spain and passed away February 6, 2022, in Leesville, Louisiana at the age of 41. Since her early childhood, she lived in Leesville and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She worked for 16 years as a paramedic for several ambulance companies. Melissa was dedicated to her job and was always a professional when on call. She enjoyed cooking, especially Korean and Mexican dishes, and was an avid fan of Ree Drummond’s cooking show – The Pioneer Woman. Melissa dressed with flair and loved bright colors and sparkle. Her home was fully decorated for the holidays, and she liked to host parties. Traveling was one of her favorite hobbies, and she traveled to Korea twice. Some other hobbies Melissa enjoyed were crocheting, learning foreign languages, and listening to all genres of music. Reading was something she was passionate about as well. She was an especially good friend that was blessed with an encouraging spirit and a servant’s heart. Melissa would often bring baked goods to her friends and was always honest with them. She knew people all across America and overseas.
Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Murray Wayne Sheffield.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Martha Ann Smith of Leesville, LA;
half-sister, Kim Sheffield;
and a host of close friends including, Kambria Sturgeon, Darlene Horlocker, Linsey Belgard, Casey Materne, Sandra Doyle, Michelle Wanjura, Matt Cannon, Teddy LeBleu, Mike Phillips, and Andy Jeane.
Pallbearers will be Greg Yarbrough, Matt Cannon, Frank Lenoir, Teddy LeBleu, Paul Wanjura, Jayden Decker, Jay Edwards, and Anthony Guidry.
