Obituary for Melba Irene Wablington
Funeral services for Melba “Susie” Irene Wablington will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Anacoco Pentecostal Church with Reverend Shane Freeman officiating. The burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. The pallbearers will be Ryan Smith, Marlon Gilcrease, Jeffery Farris, Edward Wablington, Byron Daniel, Jackson Smith, and Cooper Smith. The honorary pallbearer will be Maverick Smith.
A visitation will be held at Anacoco Pentecostal Church on Monday, April 10th from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Melba “Susie” Irene Wablington was born on March 15, 1942, in Leesville, Louisiana to James Armour Stephens and Audrey Brooks Stephens. She passed away on April 4, 2023, in Leesville. She lived in Anacoco all her life and was a member of the Anacoco Pentecostal Church. Susie was a phone operator at South Central Bell and also a secretary for Mr. Roger Morris at Tower Trailer Park. She loved working for Mr. Roger Morris. She enjoyed playing games on her tablet, bingo, receiving flowers, drinking coffee every morning, and her sweets. Susie lived for her family and was very devoted to them. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her family through the internet.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Wablington; sister, Kathleen Farris; and brothers, Johnny Stephens & Sonny Stephens.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Ann Stokes of Anacoco, LA;
loving stepson, Edward Wablington from Choushatta;
grandchildren, Kendall Ryan Smith “Brittany” of Choudrant, and Kristyn Ann Gilcrease “Marlon” of Leesville;
great-grandchildren, Hailee Ace Weathers, Jackson Ryan, Cooper Rylan, Maverick Grey Smith, Kirstyn Renee Gilcrease, and Ayden Scott Gilcrease;
and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
