Obituary for Mason Hagan
Mason Hagan was born on April 4,1933 and passed from this life on September 19, 2021 at the age of 88 years old.

He was born to Benjamin Hanford Hagan, Sr. and Jewel Vernon Hall Hagan. He married Georgia Marie Arnold on June 20, 1953.

Mason was a graduate of Simpson High School in 1951. He joined the United States Air Force from 1953-1957, serving overseas in Japan.

He was a graduate of Louisiana State University in 1961 with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. After that he served as a field engineer with Western Electric Co., providing engineering support to the U.S. Army on the Nike Hercules/Ajax guided missile systems at Ft. Bevior, Virginia.

Mason then worked for NASA in Houston, TX from 1962-1988 in Space Station/STS Operations and was a Senior Engineer for Payload Integration. He retired from NASA, then worked for Rockwell Space Operations from 1988-1995 in Space Flight Operations.

Mason was a spirit-filled Christian and was a long-standing member of Apostolic Temple in Pasadena, TX for 52 years. He had served as Sunday School Superintendent and also was a former board member. Mason had many friends and was well-known for his immense love and compassion for others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one grandchild, Jeffrey Wade Hagan. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Marie Arnold Hagan of Houston, TX; children Tanya Hagan Braneff and husband, Rev. Charles Braneff, Jr. of DeQuincy, LA; Anthony R. Hagan and wife, Lisa Thomas Hagan of Diana, TX; Jeffrey M. Hagan and wife, DeVonna Huddleston Hagan of Carthage, TX; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and his sister, Gaytha Lynn Wills along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He called his grandchildren “diamonds” and his great grandchildren “double-diamonds.”

But we all know he was the greatest diamond of them all.

There will be a viewing at Apostolic Temple at 2630 Allen Genoa Rd, Pasadena, TX on September 22 from 5-8 pm. Then a viewing at 12 noon at Hicks United Pentecostal Church in Hicks, LA on September 24, with the funeral presiding at 1pm. Rev. Charles Braneff, Jr. will officiate at the funeral. Mason will have a military tribute at the burial at Hicks Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 West Fourth Street, DeQuincy, La.
