Obituary for Mary Kathren Dowden
Funeral services for Mary Kathren Dowden will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Good Hope Baptist Church with Reverends Huey Haymon Michael Goins, and Ryan Andress officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
A visitation time for the family and friends of Mrs. Dowden will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14th at Good Hope Baptist Church and will continue until the time of service on Saturday.
On Wednesday, September 12, 2018, Mary K. Dowden went home to be with her Lord. She was born in Neches, Texas to Wallace Floyd and Guila Dunklin on July 10, 1938. She was married to the love of her life, Harold Dowden, for 48 years. She could be described by the scriptures from Proverbs 31 and as verse 28 says, “Her Children arise up and call her blessed.” She was a loving wife, mother, mammaw, sister, and friend. She loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Daphne Dunklin, and brother, Bill Dunklin. She is survived by five children, two sons, Michael Dowden (wife RaeAnn) and Terry Dowden(wife Pam) three daughters, Sheila Turnipseed (husband Ed), Sherri Marze (husband Jeffery), and Sarah Mault (husband Tony), eleven grandchildren Wesley and Cory(wife Chasity) Dannelley, Joshua, Matthew, Jacob (wife Lindsay), and Samuel Turnipseed, Jeremy (wife Whitney), Justin (wife Shana), and Ariel Dowden, Mason (wife Katie) and Madison Mault, six great grandchildren Kiran, Jameson, and Jax Dannelley, and Drake, Rhett, and Ian Dowden and sisters Jean Lee, Sue Grindle (husband Danny), Marcia Shankle (husband Glenn), and Martha Green (husband Glenn) and a host of nieces and nephews.
