Obituary for Mary Jeane Wingate
Funeral services for Mary Jeane Wingate, 74, a resident of DeRidder, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at First Baptist Church of DeRidder. Burial will follow at Cooper Church Cemetery, Pickering. The family will greet friends and loved ones for visitation from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Jeane’s Funeral Service, Leesville. Additional visitation will be available on Monday, July 17, 2017 at First Baptist Church of DeRidder from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Mrs. Wingate passed away July 13, 2017 at her residence. She was born on July 10, 1943 in Leesville to Roy and Mary Beatrice Hall. She worked for the Vernon Parish School Board as a School Secretary at West Leesville Elementary where she retired after 24 years of service. Her time in this role was meaningful and fulfilling.
Mrs. Wingate had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeRidder. Over the years, she had become very involved in church life and could be found in the Prayer Room weekly. She also dedicated her time to teaching various Sunday School classes.
She was a prized homemaker known for her cooking and baked goods. She was a beautiful, sweet spirit that loved the Lord and her family. She was always mindful to the needs of others and kind by nature.
Mrs. Wingate was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter N. Jeane and Horace R. Wingate. She was also preceded by her brother John Wesley Hall and sister Dorothy Hall Brown. She is survived by her brother, William Reid Hall. She is survived by her two children, John “Rusty” Jeane and Dana Jeane Davis, wife of John D. Davis. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Dustin Jeane, Kirstyn Jeane, Joshua Davis, and Holly Davis. She has two great grandchildren, Annmarie Jeane Davis and Caitlin Jeane.
