Obituary for Mary Frances Tanner
Mary Frances Tanner rose to meet our Lord on Feb 28th, 2024 after a fall in her home resulted in an extended illness. Mary was a long time resident of Hornbeck LA, where she raised her four children and suffered the loss of two husbands. Mary also helped to raise many of her grandchildren. Mary loved thrifting and helping those in need whenever she could. She will surely be missed.
Mary is survived by two children, Frances Sue Crowell of Leesville, LA and Myrtle Marie Powell of Elkhart, TX, thirteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, as well as a few great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband John Milton Crowell, her second husband William Edward Tanner, two sons, John Milton Crowell Jr. and Bennie Edward Crowell, as well as seven siblings, Roy Turner, John Dee Turner, Fred Turner, Bennie Turner, James Turner, Beatrice Loften, and Myrtle Turner.
A viewing will be held on Monday March 4th, 2024 at 4pm-5pm for family and 5pm-7pm for friends with the funeral service being held on Tuesday March 5th, 2024 at 2pm at First Baptist Church located at 2342 Stillwell Ave in Hornbeck, LA. Burial will immediately follow at Self Cemetery in Hornbeck, LA.
