Obituary for Mary Elizabeth McElveen Frederick

A graveside service for Mary Elizabeth McElveen Frederick will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Reverend Tommy Kiker officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Blake Frederick, Thomas Frederick, John Taft Frederick, Henry Frederick, Jeremy Miller, and Tyler Miller. A visitation will be held at East Leeville Baptist Church on Friday, September 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Mrs. Frederick was born on November 5, 1935, in Leesville, LA to Phillip Walter McElveen Sr. and Jesse Lenore Kendrick McElveen in Leesville, LA. She entered the gates of Heaven on September 19, 2022, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 14 days.

Mrs. Frederick, “Miss Mary” to those who knew her, lived in Leesville virtually her entire life and was retired from Boise Southern. She held many positions at Fort Polk over the years and was also employed at Broyles Clinic and Leesville High School. In order to help support and provide for her family, she sacrificed in many ways so that “her boys” could have what they needed and, in many cases, what they wanted. Mary was married to John H. Frederick on March 14, 1956, and they spent 40 years together making memories until his death in December of 1996.

The family would like to express their appreciation for your love, phone calls, and visits. We are comforted by the fact we have such wonderful friends to stand with us in times like these.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Greg Frederick (Lisa), Brian Frederick all of Leesville, LA and Kevin Frederick (Carolyn) of Lafayette, LA;

four grandsons, Blake Frederick (Heather) of Anacoco, LA, Thomas Frederick, John Taft Frederick, and Henry Frederick all of Lafayette, LA;

and two great-grandchildren, Micah Frederick and Mia Frederick both of Anacoco, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Louisiana Lions Camp in Leesville, LA and thanks to those who do so.
