Obituary for Martha Jo Rogers Collins
Funeral services for Martha Jo Rogers Collins will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Canaan Baptist Church with Reverend Randall Christopher officiating. Burial will follow in Sycamore Cemetery in Burkeville, TX under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, February 2nd from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Martha was born April 27, 1964 in Chicago, IL and passed away January 31, 2021 in Leesville, LA at the age of 56. She worked as a cafeteria cook in Vernon Parish and in Alabama for nearly twenty years. For 28 years, Martha was a pastor’s wife. She served alongside her husband at Castor Baptist Church for 8 years and during that time volunteered for mission trips and for the street feed organization. She helped with the music at church and sometimes led the singing. Martha enjoyed keeping up with her family and friends on Facebook and looking at abandoned houses. Her family and faith were the most important things to her, and she was an excellent wife, mother, and grandmother. She tried to take care of everyone around her and will be greatly missed.
Martha was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Adam Collins; granddaughter, Fallon Nicole Collins; and parents, Joseph Lester Rogers and Pauline Paris Rogers.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 35 years, Walter William Collins of Leesville,
son, Kaleb Seth Collins of Leesville,
brother, Jimmy L. Rogers and wife Teresa of Piedmont, AL,
sisters, Diane Christopher and husband Randall of Piedmont, AL and Barbara Williamson and husband Jimmy of Glencoe, AL,
grandchildren, Jackson Carter Collins and Shyla Cox,
daughter-in-law, Jessi Nicole Collins and fiancee Devon Cox,
and a host of extended family.
Pallbearers will be James Martin, Robert Dubois, Devon Cox, Ken Grevenburg, Kelly Marlowe, Kyle Griffen, Bart Griffen, and Bob Huie.
