Obituary for Margaret Rachal
Margaret Lynn Clark Rachal, 87, recently of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on October 11, 2021.
Margaret Lynn was born on September 3, 1934 to Ernest and Rettie Beatrice Tyler Clark of Fields, Louisiana. After graduating from Hyatt High School in 1952, she went on to study education at McNeese State University, graduating in 1956. After graduation, she worked as a Home Demonstration / 4-H agent in Vernon Parish, where she met Richard S. Rachal, Jr. They wed in 1957 and had three children, Richard, Robert, and Lynn-Leigh. The family returned to Leesville in 1970 and Margaret began teaching Home Economics at Leesville High School. She retired in 2001 having taught many generations of students. Before and after retirement, Margaret Lynn was an active member of Polk Memorial Episcopal Church, having served as an EYC sponsor, member of the Altar Guild and a member and officer of Daughters of the King. Most recently, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida to live with her daughter where she continued to play bridge and watch tennis and LSU football.
Margaret Lynn was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her sisters Pauline Clark Gibbs and Annie Lee “Polly” Clark Baker, her brother Claiborne E. Clark.
She is survived by her children, Richard S. Rachal, III (Allene McIntosh Rachal) of Jacksonville, FL, The Rev. Robert “Rocky” Rachal (The Rev. Paula Choquette Rachal) of Greensboro, NC and Margaret Lynn-Leigh Rachal of Jacksonville, FL, grandson Tyler H. Rachal and brother Creighton “Dusty” Clark.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 17th at 4:00 p.m. at Jeane Funeral Services. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Polk Memorial Episcopal Church, Leesville, LA with burial to follow at Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Pineville, LA.
