Obituary for Malcolm Louis Prewitt
Malcolm Louis Prewitt, was born on March 7, 1943, in Anacoco, LA, and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Funeral services for Mr. Prewitt will be held at First Baptist Church of Leesville on Saturday, September 14, at 10:00 a.m. Visitations will be held at the church on Friday, September 13, from 5:00-8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, September 14, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Prewitt was a 1961 graduate of Anacoco High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. After a time working for the NASA Space Center in Houston, TX, Malcolm settled in Leesville with his wife DeLain, where he began a 22-year career as a Louisiana State Trooper. He followed this with a career as Deputy Ward Marshal for the City of Leesville.
Mr. Prewitt grew up with a love of the outdoors, especially hog hunting and bass fishing. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Leesville, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and volunteering as a bus driver for the youth and senior adult ministries.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, DeLain Perkins Prewitt, son Jared Prewitt (wife Leigh Anne), grandson Steven Matthew Prewitt, and granddaughter Brenna Claire Prewitt, all of Leesville. In addition, Mr. Prewitt is survived by one sister, Sue Prewitt Gaskin, and one brother, Randall Carroll Prewitt (wife Patricia), all of Pasadena, TX; one brother-in-law, Joseph Dwain Perkins (wife Sandra) of Leesville. Finally, Mr. Prewitt is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom share cherished memories of time with Malcolm.
Mr. Prewitt was preceded in death by his father and mother, Carroll and Edna Prewitt.
