Obituary for Mahlon Chester Sims Jr.
A graveside service for Mahlon Chester Sims Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018, at the Central Louisiana Veterans’ Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation for Mr. Sims will be held from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at Jeane’s Funeral Service on Friday, August 31st.
Mr. Sims was born on April 2, 1939, in Dacula, Georgia and passed away on August 27, 2018, in Anacoco, Louisiana at the age of 79. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and received many awards and commendations including the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Mr. Sims was a quiet man who enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Francis Sims and his parents, Mahlon Chester Sims Sr. and Myrtie Lue Sims.
Mr. Sims is survived by his step children:
Debra Elias and husband Tony, David Perry, and Buddy Perry and wife Edna
Step grandchildren: Edwin Perry, Anthony Elias, Jason Elias, Christopher Perry, Jacqueline Martinez, Andy Perry, and Stacy Perry.
Ten great grandchildren and close friends James and Mercedes Higgins of Anacoco, LA.
