Obituary for Lowayne Miers
Funeral services for Lowayne Miers will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, 3255 Belview Rd, Leesville, LA with Rev. Morris Goins, Rev. Huey Haymon, and Rev. Wallace Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery, Anacoco, LA, under the direction of Jeane"s Funeral Service. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Mount Bethel Baptist Church. Lowayne was born on the 21st day of September, 1941 in the Toro Community to Louell and Bertha Miers. He passed away at his residence on the 5th day of February, 2015, in Anacoco, LA at the age of 73. He was surrounded by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life. He graduated from Anacoco High School in 1959. He was employed as an electrician with Fish Back and Moore in Houston, TX. He later returned to Anacoco and retired from Vernon Parish School Board. Lowayne was ordained as a deacon at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. He enjoyed carpentry work, watching TV- especially old westerns, working with tractors, and devoting time to his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. All who knew him loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louell and Bertha Miers. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Vera Miers Daughters: Sheila Mizell (Mike) of Cleburne, TX, and Greta James (Tommy) of Anacoco, LA Son: Keith Miers (Dickie Rodrigue) of Bush, LA Grandchildren: Rebekah Brewer (Derek) of Cleburne, TX, Morgan Blankenbaker (Matt) of Rosepine, LA, Dakota Mizell (Kristen) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Blake James of Anacoco, LA Great Grandchildren: Audrey Claire Brewer of Cleburne, TX Sisters: Vera Jett of Anacoco, LA, and Connie Fox (Elton) of Pasadena, TX Words of comfort may be extended to the family at www.jeanesfs.com.
