Obituary for Lou Ann Gunn
Lou Ann Gunn was born July 9, 1939, in Ragley, Louisiana and passed from this earth on April 18, 2020, in Leesville, LA at the age of 80. Mrs. Gunn grew up in Oakdale, LA where she attended and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1956. In that same year, she married her husband, William.
For a while, they lived in Sulphur then moved to Washington state where she began her profession in social work. Later in life, Lou returned to Louisiana to be with her family where she continued her career working for the Louisiana Department of Social Services. During her retirement, Lou also worked as a substitute teacher in the Leesville area.
Lou, like most southern ladies, enjoyed sewing and cooking and spending time with her family, however, her true passion in life was garage selling. Lou never drove past a yard sale sign without turning on a dime. She was an accomplished businesswoman when it came to finding a bargain, and not afraid to do some serious haggling when necessary.
Lou had a great life and lived 80 blessed years on this earth. During those years she laughed, she cried, had good years and tough years, but she never lost sight of what was most important in her life, her love of Jesus. Lou was a devout Christian of the Apostolic faith and a member of Toledo Town Apostolic Church. Going to church was one of her favorite things to do, and she was blessed with the spiritual gift of being a peace speaker. Lou’s friends and family will miss her dearly, but they find comfort in their hearts knowing that Lou is at peace in the arms of God.
Mrs. Gunn was preceded in death by her parents, Mack Daily and Lilly Burnett Daily and her siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, William James Gunn of Leesville, LA,
son, Mitch Trahan of Alexandria, LA,
daughter, Cassie Farquhar and husband Bowen of Leesville, LA,
grandchildren, Stacy Lewis and husband Rodney and Case Farquhar,
great grandchild, Brooks Lewis,
and extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Bridges, Wade Daily, Terry Killings, Rodney Lewis, Brooks Lewis, Bowen Farquhar, and Case Farquhar.
A private graveside service for Mrs. Gunn will be held in Good Hope Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Words of comfort for the family and friends of Mrs. Gunn may be posted at www.jeanesfs.com.
