Obituary for Loretta Elizabeth Forque
On June 20, 2022, the angels carried Loretta Robertson Forque to her eternal home. She was 84 years old at the time of her death. Loretta was born in Wink, Texas, but lived most of her life in Leesville, Louisiana.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, D.J. “Sundown” Robertson and Eva Ray Robertson, her sisters, Joyce Robertson Shoults, Gwendolyn Sue Robertson, Esther Robertson Drury, her son-in-law, Doug Plummer, and her grandson, David “D.J.” Riley.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Teresa & Tim Hunt, Craig & Ovina Forque, and Lori Forque Plummer; her sisters, Ailene & Nick Robinson and Marguerite & Bob Lawrence; her grandchildren, Erin Riley, Kaitlyn & Stephen Briscoe, Megan Riley, Megan Tribble Riley, Lindsay & Austin McCurry, Andrew & Chelsea Forque, Seth Forque and Joshua Forque; her great grandchildren, Denver Riley, Sawyer Briscoe, Cecelia Briscoe and Pierson Briscoe; and numerous extended family and friends.
In early adulthood, she worked as a telephone operator for South Central Bell, forming friendships that would last her lifetime. Later on, Loretta was employed as Deputy Tax Assessor for Vernon Parish for 24 years, retiring in 2002. She was an avid reader, a trait that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed word search puzzles, cozy mysteries and the crime procedural NCIS. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesville for 70 years and watched televised services every Sunday. Her faith in God was unwavering throughout her life and lifted her through the most trying times with grace.
Without a doubt, her greatest joy came from serving others. As the first of six girls, she spent her early life helping to care for her younger sisters. The relationship of love and friendship they shared carried through the many years and her sisters were her best friends throughout her life. Her selfless devotion as a mother was an example to others, sacrificing her own desires and ambitions to provide for her children. With her children grown, she cared for her parents and sister when they became unable to care for themselves with that same uncomplaining sacrifice. Caring for others was her avocation and she excelled at it, never requiring praise or repayment. Love was her reward.
Family and friends will always remember her radiant smile and sparkling eyes, which lit up the room the moment you walked in. You knew you were loved and appreciated. We ask that you remember our family in prayer during this time of loss. Carry her legacy of love, self-sacrifice and faith with you, cherish her memory, and follow her example, as she followed Christ’s.
The family extends special thanks to Chantelle Reeks with Elara Caring, and Byrd Regional Medical Center for taking such good care of her. In addition, thank you to Loretta Poe and the DMA Christians on Mission of First Baptist Church of Leesville, and to her long-time friend, Helen Guynne, for doing so much to minister to her during her years of convalesence.
Funeral services for Loretta will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Leesville. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23rd at Jeane’s Funeral Service from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and again on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
