Obituary for Lonnie Ray Salassi
Services for Lonnie Ray Salassi, 63, of Simpson, Louisiana, will be held at Laurel Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 2:00 PM with Bro. Mildred Monk officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Visitation will begin at 11:00AM on Saturday until time of service.
Lonnie was born on September 21, 1958, in Independence, LA and passed away on January 5, 2022, in Alexandria, LA. Lonnie graduated from Simpson High School.
From his youngest days, he loved cars and vehicles and soon discovered his special knack for fixing all things mechanical. He parlayed this expertise into a long career with the state of Louisiana and then Alford Motors in Leesville as well as other locations. In recent years he was self-employed pursuing his passion of repairing, rebuilding, and (most of all) riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
In his personal life, Lonnie loved relaxing with family and friends, fishing, and taking care of his cats. Described as an "awesome brother and a little sister's best friend," Lonnie's sometimes gruff exterior hid a loving heart, and he went out of his way to help out the overlooked or a friend in need. He will be missed greatly as a husband, a son, a brother an uncle, and a friend.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his father, Elroy O. Salassi.
She is survived by his mother, Ruby “Virginia” (May) Salassi, of Simpson; wife, Patty (Grant) Salassi of Simpson; and siblings: Dorra Dale Salassi, of Saint Amant; Connie Langton (Pete), of Toledo Bend; Don Roy Salassi (Tina), of Toledo Bend; and Louise Edelen (Bobby), of New Llano; as well as a host of loving extended family.
