Obituary for Lester Ganaway Jr.
August 29, 1935 - July 22, 2018

Lester Ganaway Jr joined two beautiful sisters, Shelby Sparks and Lena Sparks,
when he was born August 29, 1935 to Lester Ganaway Sr and Evelyn Tullier
Ganaway. He grew up on the bayou, living on a houseboat as his father made
his living as a trapper and fisherman. It wasn't uncommon for Lester to change
schools multiple times in a single year depending on where the wildlife and
bayou took his dad. His favorite foods were anything sweet with a side of Coke.
As I hear, his sisters and Grandma Tullier loved and spoiled him immensely. But
who could blame them? He had the most genuine smile, hearty laugh, kind
heart, and beautiful blue eyes. Upon becoming an adult, he enlisted in the
Airforce serving during the Korean Conflict. I believe this is where his love for
travel began. When he returned home, he met and married his "lash bah
pahtat" Darlene Dee Ganaway. They would have celebrated 60 years this past
July 12th. Together they raised 3 children, Ronnie James Pitre, Donna Ganaway
Hunt, and Bobby Joe Ganaway. After a brief stint as a firefighter, Lester landed
the job he came to love. He spent many years driving semis cross country. In his
later years, his beautiful bride would frequently join him on these trips. During
these trips, they would dream of finding a suitcase or box on the side of the
road filled with money. The only problem was that often these discussions
would end up with them fighting over how they would spend the found
money ... that they never found. After having grandchildren, his big rig would
forever be dubbed a "PawPaw truck."
Lester Ganaway Jr fell asleep Sunday, July 22, 2018 at approximately 5 am.
When he woke up in heaven, he was greeted by his beautiful bride Darlene Dee
Ganaway, his son Ronnie James Pitre, his parents, Lester Sr and Evelyn Tullier
Ganaway, his sister Shelby Sparks, and let's not forget his dog Tikey ... who family
often joked his was spending their inheritance on.
Left behind to cherish him are his children, Donna and Steve Hunt of Gonzales
La. and Pastor Bobby Joe and Julia Ganaway of Leesville La; his grandchildren,
Kaleb and Shawna Ganaway of Leesville La, Tommy Lee Hunt of Gonzales La,
Kyle and Daniella Ganaway of Leesville La, Erin Nicole and Kyle Crebs of Chicago
Ill, Kolby and Sarah Ganaway of Batesville, Ms, and his 11 greatgrandchildren:
Nevaeh Grace Ganaway, Jordyn Ryce Ganaway, Gabriel Anthony Ganaway, Sage
Ean Ganaway, Izabella Marie Ganaway Bryton Joe Ganaway, Ronalyn Donise
Ganaway, Parker Lee Hunt, Lucy Evangeline Ganaway, Arielle Amore'
Gananway, and Kyle Anthony Ganaway II.
Today we celebrate the life of a son, brother, dad, grandfather, and
greatgrandfather who loved us well. He was the best greeter Christian Living
Fellowship will ever have. His uncanny ability to make you feel loved and
wanted will be forever missed.
