Obituary for Leslie Darrell Bassett, Jr.
A memorial service honoring the life of Leslie Darrell Bassett, Jr. (Les) will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Leesville First Assembly of God at 11:00 AM with Bro. Roy Hennessy officiating. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 PM under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Leesville First Assembly of God on Monday, September 20, 2021.
Leslie D Bassett Jr. (Les) was born on September 9, 1949 in Smithfield, West Virginia to Lesley D Bassett and Violet Fisher Arnold. Les passed away on September 16, 2021, at the age of 72 in Many, LA due to health issues. Leslie graduated from high school and served in the United States Army. Leslie attended Northwestern State University and continued his career with the civil service at Ft. Polk as a heavy mobile equipment inspector. He, then, retired from civil service and opened Bassett Automotive where he proudly served for over 30 years. He took great pride in helping his customers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jerry and Mike Bassett, and sister, Barbara Hayes.
He is survived by his son, "Bud" Leslie D Bassett III (Stacy) of Leesville, LA
daughters, Carrie Gonzales (Paul) of Cedar Park, TX, Rebecca Mitchell (Shane) and Darlena Rivera (Ray) both of San Antonio, TX
grandchildren, Devyn and Dylan Gonzales, Hudson and Griffin Mitchell, Gabriel and Brittany Rivera, Courtland (Steven) Hollenshead, and Kyle Bassett
and sister, Alice Kay Schaub.
