Obituary for Laura Lenora Jackson
Funeral services for Laura Lenora Jackson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, with Reverend Danny Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Ryan West, C.E. Gore, Bryan Gore, Greg Glass, Jacob Reed, and Steven Gore. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Davis, Melton Mitchell, Don Davis, and Robert Alston. A visitation will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Service, 100 E. Union St. Leesville, LA 71446, on Tuesday, March 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Laura was born April 11, 1933, in Seminole, Oklahoma and passed away March 19, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 88. She had lived in Leesville since 1969 and was well loved and respected by everyone who knew her. Laura was a faithful member of Leesville First Assembly of God and served people in their time of need by providing meals. She worked as an LPN for about 47 years and used her gifts of care and compassion as a volunteer for the Red Cross both before and after working as a nurse. Her hobbies included cooking meals for others and being an expert shopper. Laura enjoyed shopping for Christmas gifts all year long and could always find a bargain. She wanted to be remembered for her love for the Lord and the help that she gave to her fellow man.
Laura was preceded by her husband, Captain Charles T. Jackson; parents; brothers, Leon Whitson and Levi Whitson; and sister, Lennie Knight.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Vicki West and Valeri Gore and husband Steven all of Shreveport, LA;
grandchildren, Ryan West and wife Brittany, Courtney Davis and husband Christopher, Kati Glass and husband Greg, Krista May and husband James, and C.E. Gore and wife Brittany;
great-grandchildren, Chelsey West, Skyler West, JohnWesley Davis, Liam Davis, Carson Gore, and Kate Ann May;
sisters, Louise Burns of Texas, Lillian Stafford and husband Ewell of Oklahoma, and Lola Green of Oklahoma;
and a host of extended family members.
