Obituary for Larry Percy Werner
Funeral services for Larry Percy Werner will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Leesville with Reverends Craig Forque and Jerry Penfield officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation time for the family and friends of Mr. Werner will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14th at First Baptist Church of Leesville.
Mr. Werner was born on November 5, 1940, and passed away on September 13, 2019, at the age of 78. He was a 1958 graduate of Rosepine High School where he had the distinction of being the valedictorian of his class. Later, Mr. Werner served in the United States Air Force. After marrying the love of his life, Doris, they lived in Mansfield for a while before moving back to Leesville and then he worked as a telephone repairman for 28 years. Mr. Werner was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Leesville where he started and participated in their van ministry and operated the media for their television broadcast. He loved life and his personality could light up a room. Mr. Larry never met a stranger and would often volunteer to repair telephones on his own time. He was especially close to his great grandfather, H.E. Werner and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Mr. Werner was preceded in death by his parents, George Louis Werner and Dorothy Marie Werner.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 53 years, Doris Hughes Werner
daughters, Debbie Werner of Keithville, LA and Tammy Blackwell and husband Rodney of Leesville, LA
brother, Ronnie Werner of Palestine, TX
grandchildren, Ross Eldredge, Ryan Cyr, Grant Blackwell, and Nathan Blackwell
and a host of extended family.
Pallbearers will be Ross Eldredge, Ryan Cyr, Grant Blackwell, Nathan Blackwell, Chance McEntyre, and Connor McEntyre.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Hughes, Joel Werner, Harvey Werner, Chad Tilley, Colby Tilley, Robert Blackwell, Jimmy Craft, George Craft, and Jim Craft.
