Obituary for Kenneth Lynn Toney, Sr.
Kenneth Lynn Toney, Sr. passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023 in Leesville, LA. Kenneth was born on May 31, 1954 in Leesville, LA to Peggy Jeane Toney and Thomas Toney. He was a 1972 graduate of Leesville High School and after graduation worked for Scogin Auto Parts for 10 years before going to work at KCS railroad where he retired after 33 years.
Kenneth was married to his high school sweetheart, Callie Berry Toney for 47 years. During that time, they built their life in Leesville raising 3 children. Kenneth loved watching his kids play sports, cheer and dance. He took great pride in all of their accomplishments. He also loved being a PawPaw to his grandchildren.
During high school, Kenneth was an avid water skier. Much of his time then was spent with friends water skiing at Lake Vernon. While working at Scogin Auto Parts, he began his love for tinkering with automobiles and small engines. Perhaps this also led to his love for working on lawn mowers and mowing grass.
Kenneth loved sharing his talents of woodworking with family members and friends. He loved gardening and canning what he grew. Everyone loved to get a gift of his pepper jelly or pickles.
In the most recent years, Kenneth and Callie spent time going to the lake and RV’ing and tailgating with family and friends at LSU football games. Kenneth also enjoyed going for rides and eating lunch with his high school classmates.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Thomas Harold Toney and his son-in-law, Paul Dutton.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Callie) Berry Toney, their children, Beth Toney (Tom and Nic), Kenneth Toney (Stefanie), and Michael Toney (Pattie), his grandchildren include Kenneth III, Lawrence, Augustus, Lauren, and Landon, one brother, Ronnie Toney, sisters in law, Ginger Davis (Darwin), Liz Van Dine (Dennis), brother in law Teddy Berry (Dee) and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at First United Pentecostal Church at 10:00 AM. The service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 PM with Revs. Jon Welch and Mark Christian officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis Van Dine, Teddy Berry, Randy Berry, Charles Welch, Bruce Stanley, and Rocky Clemons. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Chris and Rob Davis
