Obituary for Kenneth "Ken" Edward Smart
A memorial service for Kenneth “Ken” Edward Smart will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Jeane’s Funeral Service with Reverend Alex Diestelkamp officiating. A visitation will be held at Jeane’s from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Ken was born December 30, 1942, in Leesville, Louisiana and passed away August 5, 2023, in Alexandria, Louisiana at the age of 80. He grew up in Houston, Texas and joined the U.S. Navy. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Ken worked in civil service until his retirement. For over 30 years, he lived in Norfolk, Virginia and was married to his first wife, Barbara, for over 20 years before her death. In 2008, he moved back to Leesville where he attended Old Anacoco Baptist Church. He married his second wife, Dorris, and she also preceded him in death. Ken loved taking care of his animals.
Ken was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara; second wife, Dorris; parents, Douglas Raymond Smart & Ottie Lee Bloodworth Maloney; brothers, Douglas Smart, James Smart, Joseph Smart, & Michael Smart; and sister, Ramona Smart.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Paul Smart and wife Melanie of Dallas, TX;
sister, Sharon Carden of Houston, TX;
nephew, James “Marty” Bailey & wife Susan and niece, Monica Bailey all of Leesville, LA;
and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
