K.C. was born on April 2, 1945, in Glenmora, Louisiana to Spencer Ivy Robinson and Bessie Mae Golemon. In 1963, he graduated from Oak Hill High School where he was voted best personality and class favorite his senior year. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard and served seven years. On December 3, 1966, he married the love of his life, Linda Sue Welch. They moved to Walker, Louisiana for a short time where he worked at a plant as a machine oiler. In July of 1967, the young married couple moved to LaCamp in anticipation of the birth of their first child, Tammy, who was born on October 17, 1967. During this time, K.C. worked for John Roy Martin as a tree planter and later he worked for Johnny Haynes as a pulpwood hauler. In October of 1971, K.C. and Linda welcomed their second child, Jamey. Two months later in December of 1971, K.C. bought the pulpwood yard from Johnny Haynes. Under his leadership, the pulpwood business flourished to 120 employees. He expanded his wood yard in LaCamp and later added another wood yard in Hineston. With his dedication, perseverance, and hard work, he became a large, successful pulpwood producer. Because of the fruits of his labor, K.C. affectionately became known as the Pulpwood King. During his years as a pulpwood producer, he acquired many acres of land and started a cattle farming business. Along with his achievements in business, in 1995 K.C. received an award for being an Outstanding Conservationist. This recognition was for his efforts in woodland and pasture management in the Calcasieu Soil and Water Conservation District. Another one of his passions was giving back to the community. He continually thought about others and helped organize church building fund programs that assisted in helping churches pay off their debts. He helped numerous people by lending his hand, his tractor, or his expertise. He believed helping those in need fulfilled scripture by giving back to God for the blessings that he and his family had received. He also taught his children and grandchildren those same principles. He was dedicated to God and his family above all else. His great love for his family was evident especially during Tammy’s long battle with Leukemia. On February 9, 1979, his world was forever changed when Tammy became he and Linda’s angel. Tammy has never been forgotten and has remained in their hearts. Though being a father was rewarding, his greatest passion and most fulfilling role was that of TawTaw. Camille dubbed him TawTaw and he never wanted the name changed. He loved spending time with both Camille and Clark. When Clark became old enough, he taught him everything from baling hay to being a gentleman. Many Fridays and Saturdays were devoted to his grandchildren, playing games, making mud pies, taking them on side-by-side adventures, protecting them from cows, and teaching them to drive. He adored them. Along with Nana, he gave his whole heart to loving them and spending quality time with them. Throughout his life he was known for his easy going ways, generosity, charitable acts, and gentle strength. He mentored many young men to seek greater opportunities and success during his lifetime. He encouraged, taught, and guided them by example- which is what he believed Jesus would have done.
K.C. is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tammy; and his brothers, Ivy, Howard, and Webb Robinson.
K.C. is survived by his wife, Linda Robinson; his son, Jamey Robinson and wife, Janell Robinson; and their children, Camille and Clark. K.C. is also survived by two siblings, Donald Robinson and Ward Robinson (and wife Miriam) of Hineston. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by those who loved him and sought his advice in the doorway of his shop. He left a lasting legacy of love for his family and others.
Pallbearers will be Clark Robinson, Brian Herrington, Donnie Herrington, Delton Edwards, Roger Nobles, Sid Weatherford, and Bo Shilling. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Rion, Johnny Horton, Raymond Robinson, Greg Robinson, Ricky Robinson, Bruce Mann, and Elroy Taylor.
