Obituary for Kathy Virginia Brown
Funeral services for Kathy Virginia Gorum Brown will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Antioch Baptist Church, 2241 Slagle Loop Leesville, LA 71446, with Reverends Terry Ward and Glen Cooley officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Antioch Baptist Church and continue until the time of service on Wednesday.
Kathy was born on November 17, 1947, and passed away on June 11, 2017 at the age of 69. She was a life-long resident of Vernon parish and a graduate of Simpson High School. Kathy worked for Don’s Hallmark for several years, was active in Eastern Star, and was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Some of her favorite things to do were fishing and tending the flowers in her yard, but her grandchildren were the joys of her life. Kathy was their biggest fan and loved to watch her grandchildren play sports. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, John Allen and Nezzie Dillon Gorum and her brothers, Marvin, Murphy, Roland, and Vernon Gorum.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Larry Brown of Leesville, LA
Son: Lowell Brown and wife Annette of Leesville, LA
Daughter: April Brown of Alexandria, LA
Sisters: Annie Ruth Greer of Hallsville, TX and Carol Marler of Cotile, LA
Grandchildren: Landon, Logan, and Amelia Brown
A host of extended family
Pallbearers will be Steve Gorum, Sheldon Gorum, Landon Brown, Logan Brown, Lane Merriman, and Tommy Dowden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Yarborough, Gary Guidry, Kenneth Gorum, Eric Dowden, Pat Martin, and Wayne Ogilvie.
