Obituary for Kathryn Joann McPhail
Funeral services for Kathryn “Joann” McPhail will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022, 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Hornbeck, LA with Bro. John Northway and Bro. Buddy Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Prewitts Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Oak Grove Baptist Church from 6:00 PM until time of service on Sunday.
Kathryn “Joann” McPhail was born on September 28, 1959 in Zwolle, LA to Gabe and Audrey Brown. She passed away on January 6, 2022, in Alexandria, LA at the age of 62. Jo was living proof that dynamite comes in small packages. She never met a stranger and was lovingly referred to as “The Hornbeck Gazette”. She did not have children of her own but raised about 30 children she loved as her own. She loved to ride horses, hunt, and fish. She loved her church, Oak Grove Baptist Church, and enjoyed going to gospel singings. If you knew her, you never forget her. She will be dearly missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband, Leon McPhail of Hornbeck,
brothers, Edward Brown and wife Joyce, of Dayton, TX, Mike Brown and wife Vickie of Hornbeck, LA
sisters, Nelda McGee of Hornbeck, LA and Tammy Melvin and husband of David of Lumberton, TX,
a host of nieces, nephews and extended family
