Obituary for Katheryn Simmons Anderson
Katheryn Simmons Anderson
April 30, 1935 – May 26, 2021
I had a good life and after 86 years, the Lord called me home. Fellow Christian travelers, especially those at Kisatachie Baptist Church, thanks for all the love, prayers, and support. My memorial service is 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Self Cemetery in Leesville.
Most folks knew me as a teacher. I taught 6th grade in Leesville for many years, got a master’s degree, and a job as Title 1 reading director. I loved every minute of it, but my family I loved most.
My dad, Fyness Simmons, and my mom, Janella Dixon Simmons, lived at Kurthwood. I arrived right smack in the middle of the great depression, but that didn’t seem to bother me or my three sisters, Betty, Shirley, and Linda. We might have been short on cash, but there was plenty of love.
I married my high school sweetheart, Jerry Anderson, and we were blessed with a son, Scot, and daughter, Jeri Lin. I wish I could have spent more time with my grandchildren, Warren, Will, Scot, Cara, and Max and especially my great grandchildren, Jake, Luke, Kate, Raechel, and Kei. You know how moms are about their kids, but it’s easier to keep an eye on things up here anyway.
