Obituary for Karen Lynn Corley
Funeral services for Karen Lynn Corley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Crystal Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, October 14th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Karen was born December 2, 1956, in Mansfield, LA and passed away October 11, 2021, in New Orleans, LA at the age of 64. She was a 1974 graduate of Hicks High School and was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish and a longtime resident of Anacoco. She retired from Civil Service at Fort Polk after working for 25 years. Then, Karen worked for nearly 15 years in Role Play at Fort Polk. She enjoyed dancing, music, riding horses, and watching TV. She loved her family, and her grandchildren had her heart.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Randell Corley; father, Coy J Boswell Sr.; and sister, Alma Marie Lewis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jeremy Shay Sweat of Leesville, LA;
daughter, Shanna Lynn Carroll and husband Sawyer John Carroll of Anacoco, LA;
grandchildren, Joslyn Ann Smith and Samuel John Carroll;
mother, Mary Jean Palmer of Leesville, LA;
brothers, Martin Eugene Palmer, Travis Lee Palmer, Louis George Boswell, and Coy J Boswell Jr.;
sisters, Terry Gayle Borel, Rhonda Ann Frantom, and Mary Katherine Landry;
and a host of extended family members.
