Obituary for Jose D. Toledo
A funeral mass for Sgt. Jose D. Toledo will be held on Friday, December 29th, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 604 S. 5th St. Leesville, LA 71446 with Father Clemente Mauricio officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors in the Central Veterans Cemetery 3348 University Parkway in Leesville, LA under the direction of Jeane's Funeral Service of Leesville. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 29th, 2016, at 5 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with rosary services at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jeane's Funeral Service 100 East Union St. Leesville, La. Mr. Toledo was born September 29th, 1922 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, to Jose A. and Dolores Nazario Toledo and passed away on December 27, 2016, in Leesville, Louisiana at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 29 days. Mr. Toledo was a native of Puerto Rico, and joined the National Guard. On June 25, 1966, his unit was called to active service. During his service time, Jose served in the Korean conflict and two tours in Vietnam where he was a recipient of the purple heart.. He retired from the Army in 1972. Jose was a member of St. Micheal's Catholic Church and the Knights of Colombus. He was also a former member of the VFW, American Legion, and the NRA. Preceding him in death were his parents - Jose A. and Dolores Toledo, his first wife - Carmen A. Toledo, his brothers - Ramond Rueven Toledo and Angel Pablo Toledo Jose is survived by his wife of 14 years - Bong Sang Toledo Son: Raymond Gilbert of Anchorage, AK Daughters: Judy Blanchard and husband Jeff of Irvine, CA, Beverly Chance and husband Keith of Leesville, LA, and Aida M. Gonzalez of Georgetown, TX Grandchildren: Carly Blanchard, Raymond Tyler Gilbert, and Jessica Sue Gilbert, Lilly Gonzalez King, Michele Gonzalez Gattuso, Rosadel Gonzalez Numerous great grandchildren One nephew: Angel P. Toledo Valentin In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Jose Toledo.
