Funeral services for Johnny Dalvin Brown will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Hicks United Pentecostal Church with Chance Lawrence, Gary Hagan, and Reverend Greg Mortensen officiating. Burial will follow in Hicks Pentecostal Church Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Vincent Lynch, Cory Hesselrode, Jacob Pennington, Jack Fowler III, Landon Fowler, Alex Alston, Noah Lawrence, and Trace Hesselrode. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Norris, Russell Wilson, Terry Chevalier, Aiden Alston, and Cole Lawrence.
A visitation will be held at the church on Monday, November 28th from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Johnny, 73, of Hineston entered eternal rest November 17, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 15, 1949, to the union of Dalton Brown and Doris Monk Brown. Johnny was a graduate of Oakhill class of 1967. After high school, Johnny was drafted into the US Army where he served in Vietnam and Korea from 1969 – 1972. He was a member of the Oliver Masonic Lodge 84 of Alexandria for 45 years. Johnny went on to have many jobs, but he spent 45 years as a millwright where he specialized in maintenance, repair, and overhaul on turbine and 19 years of overseeing start up commissioning jobs. Johnny traveled the country as a millwright where he made many friends. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was full of laughs and jokes - always making people smile. Johnny was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Hicks UPC where he was known as “The Candyman”. He will be forever missed.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Doris Brown; sisters, Lillian Rose Lewis and Deborah “Debbie” Glass; grandson, Joel Thomas Lawrence; and niece & nephew, Kiesha Lynn Dubea and Trinity Dewayne Dubea.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sharon Hagan Brown;
son, Jackie Fowler (Mary);
daughters, Katrina Hesselrode (Mark), Traci Fowler, Tootie Lawrence (Chance) and Melissa Alston (Robby);
sister, Barbara Dubea; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and family.
Johnny’s family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his honor to his wife, Sharon Brown at P.O. Box 157 Hineston, LA 71438.
