Obituary for John William Hunt
John Hunt of Leesville, LA was born on November 11 , 1957 in Germany. He was adopted by Joe and Verna Hunt, while Joe was serving in the US Army, stationed in Germany. At the age of two, Joe gained his United States citizenship, and the family came to live in Joe’s hometown of Leesville, LA, which would be John’s hometown for the rest of his life.
John spent his growing up years enjoying the life of a country boy in Vernon Parish. He would spend weekends camping, hunting, and fishing with his best friends, and loved talking about those days during his adult years.
A 1975 graduate of Leesville High School, John was truly an example of the statement, “Once a Wampus Cat, always a Wampus Cat.” He had been a proud member of the Wampus Cats football team and was a regular attendee of the games as an adult.
But everyone who knew John was well aware that his passion was automotives. If you left your vehicle at John’s house, it would probably end up adapted in some way. With his own vehicle….. well, you could always hear John coming.
However, as much as John loved automotives, there are three things that He loved more. The first was his family. He idolized his parents, Joe and Verna, as well as his sister, Mary. As much as he possibly could, he doted on his 3 sons, Little John, Joey, and Joe-boy, and his daughter, Christy, as well as their children.
Next he loved his church, where he had attended since a boy, First Baptist Church of Leesville. He was a regular attendee, who could be seen every time the church was open. He loved his church family like his own.
Most importantly, John loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Like many people who profess Christ, John had spent some years not living as close to his Lord as he should. However, during the later years of his life, John found a love and commitment that he hadn’t exhibited before. John was fully assured of his salvation and stepped into eternity with confidence, hope, and joy.
Preceding him in death were his parents Joe Williard and Verna David Hunt.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Christy Edwards (Brandon) of Simpson, LA; John W Hunt, Jr (Jackie) of Hineston, LA; Joseph Edward Hunt of Hornbeck, LA; and Joe Willard Hunt of Anacoco, LA
Grandchildren; Madilen Edwards, Olivia Edwards, Chasity Hunt, Cole Hunt, Brylee Hunt, Katy Hunt, Dyami Rock, Luciana Hunt, Cheveyo Dunn, and Susie Hunt
1 sister, Mary Hunt Hauser (Charlie) of California
Pall Bearers will be Joe Hunt, William Dudley, Alvin Cooper, John Hunt, Joe Hunt, and Joey Hunt
