Obituary for John Gerald "Son" Martin
A memorial service for John Gerald “Son” Martin will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation time for the family and friends of Mr. Martin will be held on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Mr. Martin was born on September 5, 1941, and passed away on July 21, 2019, at the age of 77. He lived in Vernon Parish for almost all of his life and worked cutting pulp wood. While his health was good, Mr. Martin enjoyed working in his garden and planting flowers as well as hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Martin and Lettie Nolen Martin; brothers, Preston Nathan Martin, Carlis Ellis Martin, and Willie Junior Martin; and sister, Margie Lee Pickering.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Sylvester Martin of Leesville, LA
sisters, Dorothy Vee Haymon of Leesville, LA; Joycie Shave of Kaufman, TX; and Georgia Yerg and husband Chip of Arlington, TX
and a host of nephews, nieces, and extended family.
