Obituary for Joe Sanchez
Master sergeant (retired) Joe Sanchez, 64, died peacefully on March 12, 2018.
Joe was born August 17, 1953 in Los Angeles, California.
He was a veteran of the United States Army in which he served for 22 years where he earned many awards and citations. He enlisted in the military April 28, 1970 in South Gate, California. After the military, he began his career as a military contractor in Fort Polk, Louisiana. He worked with Lockheed Martin, DS2, Honeywell, and M1 Support Services in various mechanic and supervisory roles for over 25 years.
Joe was an avid automobile enthusiast and Master Mechanic. He enjoyed customizing cars and was a member of a couple of car clubs as a younger man. In his later years, as a hobby, Joe became the “neighborhood mechanic” and helped out many of his friends and neighbors with the repair of their vehicles.
Joe was a dog lover. He loved and was loved by his two dogs, Daisy and Princess!
Joe was married to his wife, Delia Sanchez, for 45 years.
Joe is survived by his mother, Armida Madrigal Sanchez; 3 sons, Francisco Sanchez; Joe A. Sanchez, daughter-in-law Tina Sanchez, grandchildren Joseph E. Sanchez and Megan M. Sanchez; David M. Sanchez and granddaughter Angel M. Sanchez; several nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his father Francisco Madrigal Sanchez and sister Francis Carrera.
The family of Joe Sanchez would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and other staff members of Christus St. Patrick Hospital, Byrd Hospital, and Leesville Rehabilitation for their loving and caring treatment of their father.
The visitation will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Service, 100 E. Union St. Leesville, LA 71446, 337-238-1700, from 5-9 pm Friday, March 16, 2018.
The funeral services will be held at Fort Hope Baptist Church, 962 Pitkin Rd. (Hwy. 10) Leesville, LA 71446, 337-208-1772, starting at 2:00 p.m. on March 17, 2018.
