Obituary for Jimmy Wayne Jordan

Jimmy Jordan was born on August 28, 1956. at Fort Polk, Louisiana to J.D. Jordan and Margot Stern Jordan. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cathy Jordan; two children, Heather Sherman and husband, Kyle and Levi Jordan and wife, Paige; grandchildren, Jordan Jones and Dean Sherman; and his dog children/granddogs, Bandit, Bella, Penelope, Murphy, Zuma, and Zeus. He is also survived by his sister, Vickie Green and her husband Joe; brother, Jay Jordan and his wife MiSong; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; older sister, Sybille Beckstrom; and nephew, Michael.

Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years and after leaving the service, he worked at Fort Polk as a boiler tender at the boiler plant. After 25 years, he retired then began a career working for another 15 years as a supervisor at the same boiler plant.

Dad put up an extraordinary fight against several medical issues for many years. He literally fought until he was told by his wife that he could go on. He was not giving up until she let him. He loved his family and enjoyed teaching his kids and grandkids new things. He was so proud of everyone and while he might not have said it directly much, we'd catch little moments of him talking to someone else about us about how proud he was.

He leaves his legacy of teaching all kinds of lessons, whether it's plumbing, chess, or to the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts he worked with when Levi was growing up. He always imparted his wisdom to us and we will continue to honor this.

And yes Dad, we'll still try to sneak bites to the dogs, particularly the Hippo.

Jimmy’s family will be planning a memorial service to be held at a future date.
