Obituary for Jimmie Williams
Funeral services for Jimmie Hugh Williams will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Galilee Baptist Church in Evans, LA with Reverend Wade Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Evans Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
Jimmie was born August 5, 1939, and passed away November 5, 2019, at the age of 80. He lived in Carpenter, South Dakota until he was 17. Then the family moved to San Diego, California where he joined the Navy. While he was in the Navy, he met Shirley Mary Evans and they married and had two children - Hugh Williams and Kathy Sue. Jimmy and Shirley parted ways in 1978. On December 28, 1978, Jimmie got sober. Soon afterward, he met Mary Evelyn Whipkey-Simmons. They married April 3, 1981. Mary had four children – Ray, Francis, Tracy, and Doug. Mary passed away March 13, 2010. Jimmie cared for her until her very last day. He is survived by Hugh, Kathy, Francis, Tracy, Doug, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jimmie would always help everyone out. He had a heart of gold. When he passed away, he had 40 years of sobriety. Jimmie was hard on all of his boys, instilling a good work ethic and how to survive. This was also true of his grandsons. Jimmie will be dearly missed and always deeply loved by his family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Williams, Michael McCormick, Carey Whipkey, Brendon Whipkey, Johnathan Frank, and Dustin Olds.
Honorary pallbearer will be Alicia Stanford.
