Obituary for Jewel Perkins Deason
Funeral services for Jewell Perkins Jeter Deason will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Flactor Baptist Church, Hicks, LA. Burial will follow in the Flactor Cemetery under the direction of Jeane"s Funeral Service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, from 5:00 " 9:00 PM at Flactor Baptist Church. Ms. Jewell Deason was a longtime resident of Hicks, LA and died Saturday the 26th of March, 2016 at Oak Care Center, Pineville, LA. She was born in 1921 in Fullerton, LA to parents Ada and John Perkins. She married Herbert C. Jeter, deceased, and together raised three children. Also, she was preceded in death by late husband, Marvin Deason. Ms. Jewell loved being a homemaker. She took great pride in her yard and even mowed it herself until she was 90 years old. Also, she enjoyed planting and raising a garden. She would spend many hours canning and freezing vegetables for her freezer. She was a very independent woman that took joy in being able to care for things herself. She would drive to appointments in Alexandria and anywhere else she needed to go until she was 90 years old. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by son: Douglas Carlton Jeter of Vicksburg, MS Daughters: LaJaynees deRaat, of Houston, TX and Ruby Rae Smeltzer of Hicks, LA 5 Grandchildren 6 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren 1 Nephew Words of comfort may be extended to the family at www.jeanesfs.com
