Obituary for Jessie Lea Nipp
Jessie Lea McElveen Nipp
Jessie Lea McElveen Nipp was born in Leesville, LA on April 30, 1933, to Phillip and Jessie McElveen. She passed away on May 3, 2017, at the age of 84. She was known as Jet, Mama, and sometimes Miss Jessie. But the name she loved to be called most of all was Granny.
After graduating high school, Jessie attended business college and worked at what was then Camp Polk in Engineer Field Maintenance. She married a soldier and loved to travel with her family. She was always ready for new adventures and new places to visit or to move. She loved her family dearly and would help anyone who needed anything. Having been baptized at First Baptist Church in Leesville as a young girl, Jessie was a faithful Christian witness for 72 years. She raised four children to know that death is only stepping through a door, and that family and friends are reunited to be with Christ forever.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, William Irl Nipp Sr.; her parents, Phillip and Jessie McElveen; her brother, Phillip Walter Jr.; and her sisters, Laura Schlomer and Sue Nicherson.
Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her two sons, William Irl Nipp Jr. and wife Penny of Nicholasville, KY and John Michael Nipp and wife Freda of Lancaster, KY, and two daughters, Rhonda Lea Midkiff and husband Caroll of Leesville, LA and Kathryn Lenore Rector and husband Clayton of Leesville, LA, and one sister, Mary Frederick of Leesville, LA, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
