Obituary for Jerry Johnson
A funeral service for Jerry Allon Johnson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Glade Branch Church, 8046 Hwy. 10 Pitkin, LA 70656, with Reverends Tommy Hall and Russel Devore officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Burial will be held at the Central Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery with Rev. Arlene Smith officiating and military honors.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017, at the church and continue until the time of service on Tuesday.
Jerry was born on January 22, 1945, and passed away on May 12, 2017, at the age of 72. He was a life-long resident of the Pitkin area and a graduate of Rosepine High School. After entering the Army, he served in Vietnam and earned several medals and commendations including the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, Sharpshooter (rifle), Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Purple Heart. For about 38 years, he owned and operated Jerry’s Body Shop in Cravens, LA. Jerry was a member of the American Legion and loved the outdoors. Gardening, mowing grass, hunting, and fishing were all things he loved to do outside. Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Johnson and his brothers-in-law, Joey Ellis and Kenneth Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Sondra Johnson

Sisters: Robbie Ellis and Linda Johnson both of Johnsonville, LA
Grandchildren: Timothy Johnson and wife Megan, Christopher “Cory” Pelt, Brandon Pelt and fiancée Chelsea, Dylan Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Jaselon Johnson, Levi Johnson, Braden Johnson, Caden Johnson, and Laken McDaniel and husband Kory
Great grandchildren: Skylar Pelt, Liam Johnson, Raelynn Pelt, Demi McDaniel, Gantyn McDaniel, and Brehk McDaniel and a host of nephews and nieces
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Beauregard Hospital ICU for the care that they gave Jerry.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Pelt, Timothy Johnson, Cory Pelt, Dylan Johnson, Todd Strother and Ethan Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Levi Johnson, Skylar Pelt, Braden Johnson and Caden Johnson.
