Obituary for Jerry Dean Boeneke (Basco) Rachal "Tookie"

Jerry Dean Boeneke (Basco) Rachal “Tookie” was born June 24, 1945, and in the early morning of October 26, 2022, she went to be with her Lord Jesus. Jerry was a former student of Northwestern State University with a passion for the medical field. Later, she retired from St. Mary’s Training School for Children with Developmental Disabilities in Rapides Parish as a Dorm Supervisor. Jerry dedicated her life to helping others. She loved nothing more than to awaken early and watch the sunrise then get an early start to her day. Her favorite place to be was outdoors working in the green of her garden, tending her beloved animals, fishing, or berry picking. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she would always find caring things to do for her family. Jerry enjoyed canning, cooking, and making jelly to share with her loved ones. The jitterbug was her favorite dance, and she was an excellent dancer. Jerry was always active and busy with projects but equally as quick to stop and share a visit. When friends and family dropped by, she loved nothing more than to put on a fresh pot of coffee and share something good to eat. Her delicious cooking was known within the family. No one ever left her home without a fine meal or fresh vegetables from her garden.

Jerry’s memory is left to be cherished by her husband, Vernon Rachal of Leesville, LA;

A small intimate service of immediate family members will be held per Jerry’s request. In order to continue helping others, she asked that donations be made in her memory to a dementia organization of choice for further research and to find a cure.
