Obituary for Jeffrey Mark Barker
Jeffrey Mark Barker was born on March 30, 1956 in Orange, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated May 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Jeff went on to work for PPG Industries and spent the next 41 years working for PPG/Axiall/Westlake. When he began his career in Lake Charles, he met his wife Rena and the two were married in March of 1981. The two of them made their home in south Louisiana and welcomed their daughter Jennifer in 1984. Jeff enjoyed fishing, hunting, grilling, and spending time with his family. Jeff was the most honest, hardest working, kind human being you could ever meet. Jeff was an amazing husband, dad, son, bother, uncle, and friend. Above all else, he was the most amazing PawPaw.
Jeff is survived by his wife Rena Bolton Barker of Hallsville, Tx; his daughter Jennifer, son-in-law John O’Pry and two granddaughters Emma Kate and Olivia Rose of Hallsville, Tx; his father Jim and mother Myrna LaFleur Barker of Elverson, Pa; his brother James and spouse Connie Barker of Mansfield, Tx; his sister Kim and spouse Joe Bresnan of Phoenixville, Pa; and three nephews, three nieces, four great-nephews and a great-niece. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Millard and Alta Barker; his maternal grandparents Sidney and Sedonia LaFleur; his in-laws W.T. and Irene Bolton; his nephew Justin Roberts; and his great niece Callie Barker.
He passed away in Dallas, Tx on November 2, 2019. A visitation is scheduled in Longview, Tx on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 5pm – 8pm. Jeff’s final resting place will be in Slagle, La. There will be a visitation at Slagle’s Antioch Baptist Church on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Jeff’s funeral service will be Friday, November 8, 2019 at Antioch Baptist Church in Slagle, La. at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
