Obituary for Jeanette "Esther" Rice Carruth
Jeanette Esther Rice Carruth was born August 18, 1944, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and passed away April 3, 2022, in Leesville, Louisiana at the age of 77. She was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish and was known to many as “Maw”. Esther was a member of LaCamp Church of God and worked as a voting commissioner for the Hicks Community. She volunteered for Head Start, Girl Scouts, Hicks Baseball, and was a charter member of the LaCamp Fire Department. Esther also enjoyed fishing and raising a garden. Her family meant everything to her.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Leo Carruth; parents, John William Rice and Jeanette Wilma Hall Rice; and sister, Gayle.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janet Carruth Williams of Leesville;
grandchildren, Devan Kirschener, Mercedes Nicole Kirschener Arntz and husband Joshua, and Ashleigh Danielle Guillory and husband Kamren Guillory;
great-grandchildren, Wyatt Jamison Kirschener, Kendall Leanne Arntz, Colton Levi Arntz, “K.J.” Guillory, and Kayleigh Danay Guillory;
brother, William “Bill” Rice;
sister, Joanna Robinson and husband Raymond of LaCamp, LA; and Gayle Williams Phillips and husband Hugh “Butch” of Hicks
and a host of extended family members.
Funeral services for Esther will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at LaCamp Church of God with Reverends Shawn Waggoner and Samuel Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Devan Kirschener, Joshua Arntz, Kamren Guillory, Zakk Rogerson, Clayton Ferguson, and David Sumler. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
