Jane was born March 30, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas to Evelyn & Dwight Whitney. Jane became a devoted homemaker upon her marriage to A.H. Ford Jr. in the year 1948. She was a loving wife and mother to 12 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and host of friends.

Jane became a resident of Leesville, LA in 1963 with A.H. who retired from Fort Polk in 1976. Jane was an avid volunteer for many groups and associations such as the Leesville Homemakers Association, Cattleman’s Association Cowbells, local 4-H, Red Cross, and was a member of the Senior Circle. She was a teacher’s assistant at both West Leesville Elementary School and Anacoco Elementary School for over 30 years until the age of 89 when she gave up driving. Jane worked each year at the West Louisiana Forestry Festival Fair Exhibition Hall for more years than we know. She volunteered with Vernon Parish 4-H for more than 50 years. A supporter of the Leesville Lions Club Rodeo, she barely missed a performance. She spent many years judging at 4-H Demonstration Day and local Social Studies Fairs. Jane was a great sports fan, especially if her grandkids were playing, and attended as many of their games as she could. She loved helping others. Jane also enjoyed arts & crafts, knitting, sewing, canning, Bingo, and participating in the Vernon Parish Fair and Rodeo. Since the 1970’s, she was a devoted member of Mt Bethel Baptist Church.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, A.H. Ford Jr. of Leesville, LA; son, John Ford; grandson, Kevin Jackson; parents, Evelyn & Dwight of Topeka, KS; sisters, Peggy Hobbs of Bethlehem, PA and Dorothy Morrison of Oklahoma; and daughters-in-law, Marjorie Ford and MaryAnn Ford.
