Obituary for James Ray Duncan
Funeral services for James Ray Duncan will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Jeane’s Funeral Service, 100 E. Union St. Leesville, LA with Bro. William Jones and Coleton Goff officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Island Cemetery, 962 Hwy. 10 Leesville, LA. A visitation will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Service on Saturday, October 31st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Duncan was born January 27, 1932 in Beaumont, TX and passed away October 28, 2020 in Leesville, LA at the age of 88. He was a hard worker and began working in a sawmill at the young age of 12. When he was 15, he joined the United States Air Force. He served in World War II and during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After 20 years, Mr. Duncan retired from the military and began a career working for the KCS Railroad as a brakeman and conductor. He retired from the railroad after 20 years and became a corrections officer for VPSO and later at Angola Prison. After that, Mr. Duncan enjoyed his life in retirement. He loved working his land, tinkering with his tractor, and gardening. Many of his family members learned to drive on his tractor. He was especially proud of his fully stocked pond and loved to fish. Mr. Duncan was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Fort Hope Baptist Church. He cared about people and would help anyone in need.
Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Duncan; parents, Alva Lee and Georgia Duncan; sister, Margie Newton and Betty Elmore; brother, Carl Duncan; and granddaughter, Larisa Keen.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Dale Ray Duncan of Goshen, IN and James Lee Duncan of Pineville, LA,
daughter, Dawn Wattigny of Leesville, LA,
stepsons, Ricky Keen of Leesville, LA; Danny Keen and wife Lorraine of Leesville, LA; and James Keen and wife Charlotte of DeRidder, LA,
stepdaughters, April Bolgiano and husband Dean and Gwen Jones and husband William all of Leesville, LA
brother, Alvie Duncan and wife Alice of Leesville, LA
grandchildren, Coleton Goff and wife Felicia, Dylan Wattigny, Tomie Keen, Christine Fletcher, Robert Keen, Timothy Keen, Jennifer Chavez, Roy Keen, Matthew Keen, Patricia Allen, Marie Piro, Jonah Owens, and William Jones Jr.,
twenty great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and a host of extended family.
Pallbearers will be Coleton Goff, Dylan Wattigny, Felicia Goff, Justin Blanchard, William Jones, Jr., and Scott Kezerle.
