Obituary for James "Jimmy" Darrell Walters
James Darrell Walters
James “Jimmy” Darrell Walters of Leesville, LA, passed peacefully from this world while surrounded by his girls and walked into the arms of his Lord and Savior on November 06, 2021 at the blessed age of 80.
He graduated high school in Kountze, TX at 17. At the age of 21, he joined the United States Army and entered the kitchens of the Mess Hall. He loved to cook and could always “throw something together” with a quickness. While stationed at Fort Polk, LA he met the love of his life and decided it was time to separate from the Army and settle in the area. He joined the family trade and learned from his father-in-law how to be the best Craftsman Vernon Parish ever saw. There was seldom a time that he did not have a “We’ll find a way to fix it” for anyone and everyone. He was a master story teller and had the gift of gab. Along with his wife, Ruth, he raised 5 daughters (with one bathroom!), 14 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren (soon to be 9). Our daddy was blessed to live a life full of love, laughter, tears, valleys, hills and mountains that moved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esker “Poodad” and Bertie Walters; siblings Lorraine Fowler, M. L. Walters, and Earl Wayne Walters; in-laws, K. B. and Helen Mae Craft; his son (son-in-law) Bruce Paddy.
He is survived by his soulmate and wife of 56 years, Ruth Walters; his daughters, Pamela Walters Rush (Harold), LaDonna Walters (Logan), Tammy Walters Gavin (Rick), Lynndy Walters Paddy, and Kristy Walters; grandchildren, Jordan Gattis (Bethany), Brittany Antley (Ben), Trent Rush (Jennifer), Whitney Jeter (Brenden), Brandan Mueller (Teri), Trey Rush, Brett Paddy, Lane Paddy, Cheyenne Bernal (Cody), James Seth Mueller, Jayden Balach, Hayven Balach, Kaylen Balach, and Madylen Mae Balach; great-grandchildren, John Lyle Gattis, Conner James Gattis, Hendrix Lee Rush (Lauren Green), Ryan James Mueller (Breonna Knott), Emma MaeLynn Gattis, Caiden Allen Bernal, Sutton Ray Angulo, and Charlee Rae Jeter; sibling and oldest sister, Vaudine Daniel; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Harold Rush, Rick Gavin, Jordan Gattis, Trent rush, Trey Rush, and James Seth Mueller. Honorary Pallbearers: Brandan Mueller, Brett Paddy, and Lane Paddy.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until time of service. Service, officiated by Randy Boswell and burial, will be held at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
