Obituary for James "Jack" Leslie Prevatt
Retired 1SG James Leslie Prevatt “Jack” went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2021. Jack Prevatt was born in Tampa, Florida on September 14, 1947. When he turned 16, Jack joined the U.S. Army and served 5 tours in the Vietnam War. He became a (1SG) First Sergeant and was a part of the Big Red 1, 75th Rangers Regiment. After serving 22 years as a highly decorated soldier, he then worked for Brown and Ruit. He had many overseas tours to Haiti, Macedonia, Croatia, and Bosnia. He then returned home to work as Assistant at Role Play with Cubic Corporation. Later, he was promoted to Quality Control until he retired.
Jack became a true outdoorsman after retiring. He loved to hunt, fish, and play many rounds of golf. He never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was a caring, devoted husband, father, Papa, and friend. He was our HERO and will forever be in our hearts.
Left to carry on the legacy of Jack Prevatt are his wife, Veronica (Hicks) Prevatt; daughter, Leslie “Amber” Prevatt; son, Jedd Alexander Prevatt; son-in-law, Cristian Andrew Keels; his pride and joys – two granddaughters, Keala Rayne Keels and Kaydence James Keels; sister, Debra Evans of Panama City, Florida; and many extended family members and friends.
Jack Prevatt was preceded in death by his parents, (father) John David Prevatt and (mother) Dorothy Louise Austin; two sisters, Brenda Prevatt and Sandra Capes; and brother, Fred Prevatt.
