Obituary for James Edward Williams
Funeral services for James Edward Williams will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Pine Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Tri Evans and Betty O’Banion officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation for the family and friends of Mr. Williams will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21st at the church and continue until the time of service on Tuesday.
Mr. Williams was born on December 30, 1930, and passed away on January 20, 2019, at the age of 88. He was born and raised in Leesville and was a 1951 graduate of Leesville High School where he was an exceptional athlete. While serving as a Marine, he fought in the Korean War and was stationed in Panama for a while. Once he left the military, Mr. Williams worked for 20 years at Hernandez Farm Supply, then he worked another 20 years as the Recreation Director at the Leesville State School. He was a lifelong member of Pine Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and running trot lines. Mr. Williams never met a stranger and will be remembered as a loving Dad, Granddad, brother, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda Faye Westmoreland; parents, Jerry Francis Williams and Bessie Jane Parker Williams; grandson, Thomas Jarrod “Joby” Jeane; brothers, Jerry Williams Jr. and Luther Daniel Williams; and sister, Amelia Horger.
Left to cherish their memories of him are his son, Jim Ed Williams of Leesville
daughters, Connie Williams, Nancy Willis, and Mary Williams all of Leesville
sisters, Alice Smith of Martinez, GA and June Bynog of Leesville
thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of extended family.
Pallbearers will be Jason Jeane, Jeremy Jeane, Jim Williams Jr., Alex Clayton Sheppard, James Ed Williams, and Everett Comer, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Martin, Willard Cooley Jr., and David Neil Peters.
