Obituary for James "Bubba" Ivy Martin Sr.
Funeral services for James Ivy “Bubba” Martin Sr. will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Fort Hope Baptist Church, 962 Pitkin Road Leesville, LA with Reverend Daron Reeves officiating. The burial will follow in Pine Island Cemetery in Pickering. The pallbearers will be Ethan Gustafson, Jerry Wheeler, Lynn Thompson, Tony Hext, Jeff Rose, and Derrick Gordon. The honorary pallbearer will be Billy Underwood.
A visitation will be held at Jeane’s Funeral Service, 100 E. Union St. Leesville, LA, on Sunday, April 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday at Fort Hope Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Bubba was born March 10, 1958, in Leesville, Louisiana and passed away March 30, 2023, in Leesville at the age of 65. He was a hard-working man who worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator at Tanner Construction for most of his career. He briefly worked overseas for Brown and Root. In his younger years, Bubba liked to ride his motorcycle and could sometimes be a dare devil. Bubba loved the simple things in life like being outdoors and spending time with his family. He liked to fish, go camping, and could grow a bountiful garden. He spent many hours visiting with his family and friends that were dear to his heart.
Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert Martin & Opal Fenn Martin and brother, Elbert Spence.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, James “Jimmy” Ivy Martin Jr. of Leesville;
daughters, Carrie Ann Gordon and husband Derrick of Anacoco, LA and Callie Chantel Martin of Youngsville, LA;
grandchildren, Ethan Gustafson, Haiden Bailey, Aubrey Gustafson, Joshua Gordon, and Mylah Brazier;
sister, Kathy Martin Rose and husband Jeff of Anacoco;
nephew, Fred Rose of North Carolina;
caretaker, Janet Daniels;
and extended family members and friends.
