Best known to family and friends as “Uncle Jim” or “Mr. Jim”, reached out and took the hand of Jesus as he passed peacefully at age 95 into Eternity at 1:59 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Marigold Place Assisted Living in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was born on January 10, 1923, in the Artillery Range Fullerton Community to Joseph Harold and Sarah Louise Deason LaCaze.
Mr. LaCaze left his family quite a legacy. He was a “one-of-a-kind” Daddy, PaPa, and Uncle Jim, World War II Navy Veteran, worked for oil companies throughout his adulthood in several states and foreign countries, enjoyed everything cowboy, Jack-of-all-Trades who could repair almost anything, social butterfly who never met a stranger, and giver of his time and resources to so very many. But, most of all, he was a Christian and loving family man. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 60 years Dorca (Dot) Irene Wells LaCaze; his parents; his brothers Virgil LaCaze, George Louis (GL) LaCaze, Edmond LaCaze, Sr., Theophilus (Tot) LaCaze, and Nathaniel LaCaze; his sisters Gertie LaCaze Haymon, Addie LaCaze Hagan, Esther LaCaze, and Ruth LaCaze Swain.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Glenda Irene LaCaze Spurgeon; Grandsons Samuel James Spurgeon and Stephen Joshua Spurgeon; Great Grandson Easton James Spurgeon and Great Grandson due to arrive in February Ezra James Spurgeon.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons Samuel Spurgeon and Stephen Spurgeon; Nephews Jerome Hagan, Brent Landry, Dyarell Davis, and Kynell Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Nephews James H. LaCaze, Kennith Wiggins, and Mark Davis.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the personnel of Marigold Place and Heart of Hospice for their loving and devoted care of Mr. LaCaze.
