J.W. was born April 29, 1943, in Port Arthur, TX and passed away February 20, 2022, in Florien, LA at the age of 78. For many years, he worked for the Louisiana Department of Transportation for bridge control and as Site Manager for Sabine Waste Management. He was a member of Florien and Hornbeck Masonic Lodges. J.W.’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, and being a collector of many things. He loved the Lord and was a faithful man of God. J.W. was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He had a great sense of humor and was a storyteller. His grandchildren would ask him who was his favorite, and he would say, “Yes, you’re one of my favorites.” Besides the Lord, his family was the most important thing to J.W., especially his great-grandchildren.
J.W. was preceded in death by his wife, Evon Lee; son, Jeffery Lee; grandson, Nathan Lee Wilson; parents, George “Buster” Washington Lee and Pearl Rodgers; and sisters, Evelyn Inez Lee and Shirley Jean Lee.
Those left to cherish him memory are his daughters, Belinda Pridgen and husband Garry of Hornbeck, Deloris Lee and fiancée Scott Hutchinson of Jonesville, and Karen Lee of Florien;
grandchildren, Brittney Herbert and husband Albert, Samantha Scaife and husband Austin, Kayla Gwin and husband Adam, and Courtney Hershberger and husband Blayne;
great-grandchildren, Tucker, Gage, Braylon, Bella, Little A, Cruz, Avanna, and Dailee;
sister, Vickey Gibson and husband James of Hornbeck;
brother, Edwin Lam of Hornbeck;
nephews and nieces, Bruce Gibson, Buddy Gibson, Lavina Lam, Stephanie Withers, and Jessica Crager;
and lifelong friend, Ronnie Dowden.
Pallbearers will be Albert Herbert, Adam Gwin, Austin Scaife, Blayne Hershberger, Jake Lewing, Jerry Lee, William Charles Lee, Kirk Rogers, and Andy Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Garry Pridgen, Scott Hutchinson, Tucker Grable, Gage Gwin, Braylon Hershberger, Bella Herbert, Austin “Little A” Scaife, Cruz Herbert, Avanna Scaife, Dailee Scaife, Bill Rogers, Doug Rogers, and Johnny Maxie.
