Inez Virginia Dowden Marze, daughter of the late Henry Will & Jenny Funderburk Dowden, wife of the late Luther Marze Sr., and mother of the late Luther Marze Jr. passed away August 13, 2023, in her home in Anacoco, Louisiana at the age of 95. She was a 1945 graduate of Plainview High School, and after graduation she went to work at Ford Cleaners where she met her late husband, Luther Marze. They were married for 55 years from 1947 until his death in 2002. Luther and Inez owned a Citgo Station in Anacoco named Marze’s Service station from 1956-1974 where she worked while raising her children. Then Inez went to work at the Anacoco Post Office part time and then later transferred to the New Llano Post Office as a clerk until she retired on September 2, 1988. She was dedicated to her community and loved her family with her whole heart.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Marze Sr.; son, Luther Marze Jr.; parents, Henry Will & Jenny Funderburk Dowden; brothers, Jiles, Arnold, L.J. & L.C.; and sisters, Trudy, Irene, and Rowena.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Bonnie Moore (Bobby), Rickie Marze (Sallie), Mike Marze (Sherry), and Dickey Marze (Valerie);
daughter-in-law, Elaine Marze;
grandchildren, Daniel Marze (Stephanie), Phaedra Clemons (Clyde), Robbey Moore (Sherry), Crystal Rawles, Richard Moore (Kelley), Cade Marze (Lena), Magan Lambert (Harmon), Drew Marze (Mallory), Josh Marze, Dayton Marze (Sarah), MacKenzie Marze, and Hayden Marze (Ashlyn);
great-grandchildren, Hagen, Garrison, Colton, Mackenna, Kenzie, Dakota (Kaylee), Layken (Hunter), Draike (Leah), Morgan (Jarred), Cole, Dalton, Cohen, H.J., Mack, Rowynn, Rayleigh, Jaxon, Maddox, Landrie, and Banks;
great-great-grandchildren, Avery, Emma, Lyla, Ivy, and Cooper;
and a host of extended family members and friends.
We would like to say a special thank you to Ms. Joan Menard – a special friend that for 2 years has shared a love and friendship that no one can compare. There are no words to express how grateful we are for the care she gave our mother. We will forever consider her a part of our family. We love you Ms. Joan.
Funeral services for Inez will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Anacoco with Reverends Jason Kees and Wade Harris officiating. The burial will follow in Prewitts Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Daniel Marze, Richard Moore, Robbey Moore, Cade Marze, Drew Marze, Hayden Marze, Dayton Marze, and Josh Marze. Honorary pallbearers will be Draike Rawles, Dakota Moore, Cole Moore, Dalton Moore, Harmon Lambert, Hagan Marze, Garrison Marze, Colton Clemons, Jarred Haymon, Hunter Nash, and Clyde Clemons.
A visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Anacoco on Monday, August 14th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
