Obituary for Huey Leonard Goodwin
Funeral services for Huey Leonard Goodwin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Laurel Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Wesley Jackson and Sherman Busby officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Huey was born July 1, 1938, in Fort Polk, LA and passed away September 22, 2021, in Leesville, LA at the age of 83. He was a faithful member of Laurel Hill Baptist church and a lifelong member of the Hicks Foxpen where he ran dogs and caught coyotes. Huey worked for the forestry service and was a career farmer. In fact, until last year he was still plowing his fields. He believed that you reap what you sow not only on the farm but also in life. Huey reaped the benefits of being a dedicated and loving father, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed visiting with his friends every week.
Huey was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years. Deellen “Dee” Hagan Goodwin; sons, Henry Goodwin and David Goodwin; parents, Henry Anderson Goodwin and Audrey V. Brown Goodwin; brothers, Jerry Goodwin and Harvey Goodwin; and sister, Eloise Jordan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tammie Marlean Goodwin, Diane Marie Goodwin, and Kathline Regina Goodwin all of Hicks, LA;
brother, J. Russell Goodwin of Hicks, LA;
and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Huey’s family extends special appreciation to Wayne and Lori Goodwin for the care and love they have shown to Huey and his daughters.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Goodwin, Linnie Goodwin, Jason Goodwin, Justin Goodwin, Terry Goodwin, and Gordan Tarver. Honorary pallbearers will be Landan Goodwin, Russell Goodwin, Harlan Hagan, and Archie Smith.
