Obituary for Hollis Roberts
Funeral services for Hollis Roberts will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverends Lloyd Lacombe and John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation for the family and friends of Mr. Roberts will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
Mr. Roberts was born on November 29, 1931 in Nederland, TX and went home to meet his Lord on October 6, 2018, in Leesville, LA at the age of 86. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as a medical corpsman then attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. While attending seminary, Mr. Roberts pastored the Picayune Baptist Church in Picayune, Mississippi. This started his life-long service as a pastor and Bible teacher. Mr. Roberts pastored many churches including Church Point First Baptist, Community Baptist Church in Alexandria, LA, Ashland Baptist Church, Carlyss Baptist Church, Laurel Hill Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church, The Korean Church, Cooper Baptist Church, and Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. He was teaching a Sunday School class at Calvary Baptist Church until shortly before his death. Mr. Roberts was a good story teller who loved to garden, and he also enjoyed reading, German Shepherd dogs, and occasionally fishing and shrimping.
Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Monroe and Mary Melinda Roberts; brothers Charles Francis Roberts, Leroy Roberts, Jesse L. Roberts, and George David Roberts; and sisters Mary Carroll, Ruby Maddox, Opal Crowder, Merle Maddox, and Authur Joyce Maddox.

Great grandchildren: Ava Roberts, Jaxson Roberts, Jeremiah Johnson, Annabelle Fisher, Amelia Duhon, and Elijah Duhon.
Pallbearers will be Dan Roberts, Rod Roberts, Cory Avery, Gene Maddox, Addie Fisher, and Brandon Moore.
